External Slave

The External Slave is identical to the Gateway except that it does not have any modems and embedded Internet software. It collects data from equipment, sends them over an RS485 network to the Gateway that in turn transmits them over the Internet to the iSCADA Server. It has to be connected to a Gateway and cannot function on its own.
